I’ve included a photo guide at the end to help show how I made the band. The band of the hat is made by using surface crochet. It was pretty easy to secure with some bobby pins, or you can definitely sew snap clips to the underside of the hat brim.
You can use it as a hat for amigurumi, pop it on top of a mini pumpkin, or you can wear it like I did. Just as I slowly started to realize it was my guy, he proposed! So, needless to say, I have quite the soft spot for this little witchy hat, and I hope you love it too! It was all kind of a blur, but I remember I was distracted and laughing at something someone said, and then a tall person in a masked grim-reaper costume showed up behind me. My husband was at a “meeting” that day at work so I was handing out candy on the porch by myself, wearing a tiny crocheted witch hat I had whipped up at the last minute. My sister’s family came over as was the norm so that we could see the kid’s costumes. Back when we were still dating, one year on Halloween I was handing out candy like usual. My husband knows just how much I love Halloween. Let’s not forget it’s also the season of all things pumpkin spice, and I will absolutely, without shame, try pumpkin spiced anything at least once. I love everything spooky, the smell of autumn leaves, and rainy afternoons. So, if you know me, you know that I love Halloween.
